Pang Goes Stealth

In March of 2008, I heard from Keith Pang for the first time since bootcamp. Ends up he lives in Temecula which is about 45 minutes north of where I lived while stationed at MCRD San Digo. He relayed this great story about our shared bootcamp experience:

Reading about your clock story reminded me about my own story.

One night it was my time to do fire watch and all is well until the watch that was taped to the duty hut window fell down. Thoughts raced through my mind on what to do. I had no idea what time it was.

Do I dare attempt to wake Sgt Robinson?

In the end I decided to quietly enter the duty hut and paste the watch back on.

It was quite frightening opening the door and slowly walking in and fixing the watch. I was thinking that any moment he would wake up.

But my stealth got me in and out of there without anybody noticing. Whew, what a relief.

I KNOW I would not have had the stones to do that and I tip my hat to Pang. Damn hardcore, Marine.
